Berlin Boombox is a soundsystem made from recycled cardboard, inspired by the ghetto blasters which are coming back into fashion these last few years. Except with the Boombox, the tapes are replaced by a digital playlist from your Smartphone or MP3 player. Imagined by the designer Axel Pfaedner, the Berlin Boombox is made from ondulated recycled cardboard, in the same principle as origami. It does not need any glue or tools and is easily assembled with the instructions provided. It also comes in various themes and colours; the Berlin Boombox has even collaborated with numerous artists such as LouLou & Tummie, Rob Flowers, Golden Green 179 or Jeremyville!
Specification wise, the Boombox is equipped with a 2 x 5W amplifier and 2 loud speakers MIVOC PRO 3’’ of 4ohms full bandwidth made in Germany. The whole thing weighs about 850g and is powered by 3 batteries AA. The volume and tension can be adjusted from an aluminium deal on the top. Design, vintage, green, practical, light… the Berlin Boombox is compatible with all smartphone and MP3 readers; these can be connected via a mini-jack socket. An original and cheap way to revive a mythical icon of the 80s.
